Perhaps, they too believe that once they have the surgery, not only will they be able to fit into their dream shoes. But they may also meet their Prince Charming!

What is Cinderella Surgery?

In a world that looks down upon imperfection, women are going through lengths to attain the perfect feet. Some women are born with imperfect feet, with toes being either too long or short, while others yearn to have straighter feet. However, while beauty is one of the factors that propels women to go in for this cosmetic surgery involving the feet and toes. It has more to do with being able to wear certain shoes more comfortably.

The society we live in associates certain footwear with status, sex appeal, fashion sense, glamour and confidence. Usually, this footwear is high heel shoes with open or closed toes. And, understanding the association between footwear and societal perception will help you comprehend why women are willing to go through an invasive cosmetic surgery for toes.

Different Kinds of Cinderella Surgery Procedures

If you are unhappy with the way your feet look and feel, you can opt for one of the many versions of Cinderella Surgery. Of course, the cosmetic surgeon will recommend the best possible option. But it helps to know what you can opt for.

Some of the procedures that you can choose from include:

  • Toe Shortening Surgery: This is self-explanatory where the length of the toes is surgically reduced

  • Toe Lengthening Surgery: This is the opposite of a toe shortening surgery. Here, the length of the toes is increased using the procedure.

  • Fat Injection: In this type of cosmetic surgery for the foot, the surgeon injects fat that is harvested from another part of your body into your heels and soles. As a result, it offers additional cushioning to the feet and helps make uncomfortable footwear more comfortable. This is a temporary procedure as the fat gets either resorbed by the body or displaced.

Risks Involved in The Surgery

Just like any other surgery, even Cinderella Surgery comes with risks. In this surgery, the cosmetic surgeon will have to cut open your foot and then saw off the bones to make your feet more presentable and beautiful. Hence, it is a high-risk surgery.

Some of the risks of going under the knife to shorten or lengthen your toes include the following:

  • As this is an invasive surgery, you will experience pain in your feet. The duration of the pain will depend on how long it takes for the wound, both internal and external, to heal

  • You will have to endure restricted joint movement until your feet heal completely

  • You could develop blood clots, which can be life-threatening

Cinderella Surgery also has a few drawbacks. For one, it has a long recuperation period. You will need anywhere from six to eight weeks to recover from the surgery, if not longer. Also, during your recuperation, you will have to use crutches to move around.

However, there could be even bigger problems in store for you if you happen to have the misfortune of getting this cosmetic surgery for toes by an inexperienced cosmetic surgeon. It is prudent to remember that your foot not only supports the weight of your entire body. but it also has a significant role to play when it comes to balancing, walking and running. The different parts of the feet work in total harmony to ensure your mobility is not affected. So, if an inexperienced and unskilled cosmetic surgeon makes a blunder during the surgery, you could end with constant and persistent pain in your feet. And you could end up with orthopedic problems associated with the knees and ankles.

So, before you decide that a toe lengthening or toe shortening surgery is your only option, weigh the pros and cons. And check out other alternatives that are less painful and non-invasive to help you fit into your dream shoes.

Alternatives to Cinderella Surgery

There are several alternatives to cosmetic surgery for toes. You can try exploring these alternatives before you decide that the surgery is your only option. Some of the other choices you have are as follows:

  • Using medicated pads and ointments to get rid of calluses and corns. Once these outgrowths are removed from your feet. After that, you will be able to wear and walk comfortably in stylish and chic footwear

  • You can opt for orthotics if you have a problem with the functioning of your feet. These are shoe inserts that you place inside your shoes. The inserts help to realign the joints in your feet so that walking or standing is no longer painful

  • Rather than laying emphasis on style and trend. It is best to opt for footwear that is comfortable to wear and does not cause you any pain or discomfort.

  • If you are going in for Cinderella Surgery due to bunions. It is better to have the bunions operated to restore the shape and functionality of your feet
